On the 24th, U.S. entertainment media outlet Deadline announced that Oscar winner Youn Yuh-jung will appear in Season 2 of the Netflix series 'BEEF.' The show is produced by A24, the same company behind the film 'Minari', which starred Youn Yuh-jung. She will reunite with the production team for this project.
Alongside Youn Yuh-jung, Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny have also joined the cast. Youn Yuh-jung will play a Korean billionaire who owns a country club. Season 2 will explore a young couple’s shocking experience after accidentally witnessing a violent altercation between their bosses and their wives at the country club run by Youn Yuh-jung’s character.
'BEEF' is a 10-episode drama about a minor incident in a supermarket parking lot that spirals into a full-blown revenge saga. Korean-American writer and director Lee Sung-jin directed, wrote, and produced the series, which also stars Korean actors such as Steven Yeun. The series garnered significant attention last year, sweeping Best Picture and Best Actor at the Golden Globe and Emmy Awards, further showcasing the strength of Korean creators.
Season 2, consisting of eight episodes, will once again be directed by Lee Sung-jin. Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, who were lead actors in Season 1, will return as producers for this season.
Youn Yuh-jung made history by becoming the first Korean actress to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'Minari.' More recently, she has gained global recognition for her performances in Seasons 1 and 2 of 'Pachinko.'
