FT Island Choi Min-hwan has been cleared of prostitution and forced harassment of Yulhee. On the 29th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul decided not to send Choi Min-hwan to the prosecution on charges of violating the Sex Trafficking Punishment Act and forcing him to commit sexual harassment. The reason was that there was not enough evidence to admit the charges.
Choi Min-hwan was cornered by the revelation of his ex-wife Yul-hee last month. Yulhee revealed that Choi Min-hwan entered the business during his marriage and molested him. At the same time, the transcript of the conversation between Choi Min-hwan and a business official revealed suspected prostitution, and netizens filed a complaint with the police against Choi Min-hwan.
As a result, Choi Min-hwan dropped out of all broadcast programs such as KBS2 'Superman is Back' and suspended his FT Island activities.
However, as Choi Min-hwan was finally cleared of charges, attention was focused on whether he would return to the team.
Attention was also focused on whether such a ruling would affect the lawsuit against Yul-hee. After revealing Choi Min-hwan's activities, Yulhee has filed an application for mediation to change parental rights and custody, alimony, and property division with the Seoul Family Court.
Soongin Yang So-young, a lawyer representing the law firm, Yulhee's legal representative, said "The case is not a decisive reason for the lawsuit. It was not accused by Yul-hee, nor was it said for punishment purposes. I can talk about whether I worked hard in raising children, but it's not a decisive reason why."
Yulhee's side said that there is room for a fight as she said she would take the children soon, rather than handing over custody of her three children to Choi Min-hwan during the negotiated divorce phase.
Choi Min-hwan and Yul-hee married in 2018 and had one son and two daughters, but divorced in December last year.
