According to reports from the online community on November 3rd, Triple Star attended the commemorative event for the '2024 Asia's 50 Best Restaurants.' This marked his first public appearance since the privacy scandal emerged, suggesting a possible return to his professional activities. Although the Seoul Metropolitan Government was reviewing his participation in the event following the controversy, no final decision had been made at that time. Initially, there were indications he might reconsider his attendance, with statements indicating "there is no change in the cast at this time." Ultimately, however, he proceeded with his appearance at the event.
As Triple Star's private life continues to be a source of public concern, many netizens protested his participation in the event. The chef has faced a series of personal revelations recently. According to a report from Dispatch, Triple Star met Person A while studying at a cooking school in the U.S. in 2014. Their relationship involved several breakups and reconciliations until 2022. During this time, he also dated Person B simultaneously, eventually notifying Person B of their breakup and marrying Person A in May 2022, only to divorce three months later. As they did not register their marriage, no legal divorce was processed.
Person A has raised allegations regarding Triple Star's privacy, claiming that he attempted to leverage his relationship for a job at a Michelin-starred restaurant and accused Triple Star of verbal abuse and intimidation. Person A alleged that he sought employment at Triple Star's Michelin restaurant by providing luxury gifts to the restaurant chef. It is unusual for a student with no prior experience to secure a position at a Michelin restaurant, yet Person A's connections reportedly facilitated an interview with Triple Star. However, Triple Star contended that he was recognized by the head chef and offered a full-time position just one month after completing three months as an unpaid intern.
There were also claims about issues in Triple Star's personal life during their relationship. Around 40 statements of reflection from Triple Star were leaked, which included troubling remarks, such as "sneak peeking at a naked customer via CCTV footage" and derogatory comments about women. Following Person A's return home in 2015, concerns about Triple Star's fidelity emerged, even during their long-distance relationship. A particularly shocking apology letter surfaced, in which he allegedly requested Person A to "sleep with another man because of my greed." In response to these claims, Triple Star denied the allegations, stating, "It's absolutely not true," and added, "I don't remember what I wrote in those reflections."
Additionally, Person A claimed to have invested 150 million won in establishing Triple Star's restaurant and managed areas such as marketing. They alleged experiencing threats and verbal abuse from Triple Star after Person A began a new relationship following their breakup. When Person A met their new boyfriend in August last year, Triple Star reportedly became extremely angry, expressing violent feelings in a message. Triple Star responded by questioning the accuracy of the portrayal and suggested there were reasons for his anger. Triple Star's lawyer commented that he had heard about the nature of Person A's character, implying that Triple Star may have been justified in his feelings.
Born in 1991, Triple Star is a chef who gained fame as a contestant on Netflix's 'Culinary Class Wars,' where he placed third in the finals. He previously served as the deputy chef at Fine Dining Mosu Seoul, run by program judge Ahn Sung-jae, and is currently the owner-chef of a fine dining establishment in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul.
