Yul-hee Seeks Custody of Children Following Divorce from Choi Min-hwan
Yul-hee, a former member of the group Laboum, visited a lawyer to regain custody of her children, which was awarded to her ex-husband, Choi Min-hwan. On November 5th, TV Chosun’s "Now I'm Alone" posted a video titled "Why Did Yul-hee Visit the Lawyer's Office?" on its official channel.

In the video, Yul-hee explained that she consulted a divorce lawyer specializing in child custody cases. She shared, "I filed for divorce in September last year, and it was finalized in December. I have three children, and custody is currently held by my ex-husband. At that time, we agreed on a verbal arrangement for interview negotiations, child support, property division, and alimony, all of which were set to zero won."

When the lawyer inquired where such agreements were documented, Yul-hee replied, "We verbally agreed on everything without any written documentation." She continued, "I intended to share parental rights equally, but the court decided it was better to grant custody to one parent, which ended up being my ex-husband. However, I want to regain custody."

The lawyer explained, "In fact, unless children have property, it is often inconvenient to separate the parental rights of the caregiver. It is common to grant custody and parental rights to one person, as having joint parental rights is not always advantageous or more rightful." He then asked Yul-hee, "Why are you seeking to regain custody?"

Yul-hee responded, "Actually, about a year before our divorce..." and began to explain her feelings regarding the situation.

Earlier, on October 24th, Yul-hee had claimed that Choi Min-hwan sexually harassed her in front of her in-laws and that he frequently visited entertainment establishments. She revealed, "I discovered that Choi Min-hwan was working at a business a year before our divorce," emphasizing that this was a crucial factor in their separation.

Yul-hee shared, "Since then, our marriage changed drastically. While I could endure the struggles of raising children or conflicts, I no longer wanted to be in that environment after the incident. It became distressing for me to face my family as well. Choi Min-hwan would inappropriately touch my body in front of my family. I had no idea about his visits to those establishments; it turned out this was a habit of his." She even released a transcript of conversations with Choi Min-hwan that raised suspicions of prostitution and later filed a complaint requesting an investigation into his alleged forced harassment and prostitution, escalating the situation.

Following the privacy controversy, Choi Min-hwan withdrew from KBS2’s 'Superman is Back' and suspended his group activities. Meanwhile, Yul-hee and Choi Min-hwan married in 2018 and welcomed a son and twin daughters, but they divorced in December of last year.
