Director Kim Sung-soo received the Best Director Award for the 11th Korea Film Producers Association Awards held at IndiSpace in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 17th for the "Spring of Seoul".
In his post-award speech, he said "The people I always say and thank are the audience 'Seoul Spring'. Because until I prepared the movie and tried to release it, I was so anxious and worried that the audience would watch it a lot. Director Kim then said, `But on the other hand, there were some doubts about why so many people watched it and why young people, especially, would visit the theater`Not long ago, a year after its release, the deranged president staged a ridiculous pro-government coup on Dec. 3 and watched young people run out of Yeouido as well as other parts of the country to vote for impeachment and vote for it, saying, `I realized why audiences are like this these days, why they watched so many of our movies.'
It also occurred to me that young people have the right beliefs about justice, especially these days. So, on the other hand, what I'm thinking about these days is that as a movie director, I was worried about what kind of stories I should tell these people in a way that was different from before. On this day, 'Seoul Spring' was honored with five awards, including Best Picture and Director, Film Award (Auntie), Lighting Award (Lee Sung-hwan), and Music Award (Lee Jae-jin).
