Actor Koo Kyung-hwan will appear as Ahn Sang-gu played by Lee Byung-hun in the `Insiders' (tentative) series.

An official from the film industry told Sports Chosun on the 26th that `Actor Koo Chang-yi' was cast in the `Insiders' series. Ahn Sang-gu, a political gangster played by Lee Byung-hun in the movie.

The drama `Insiders' is a series that expands the world view of the 2015 film of the same name. Earlier in September, actor Song Kang-ho reported that he was cast as Lee Kang-hee, an editorial week of the Kuk-guk Ilbo, played by Baek Yoon-sik in the movie. It is the first meeting between Song Kang-ho, a famous actor representing Korea, and Koo Chang-hwan, who grew from a rising star of Chungmuro to a popular actor. Expectations are already high for the combination of acting between the two actors, where wit and Paysos coexist.

In the movie, Ahn Sang-gu, played by Lee Byung-hun, is a gang leader who handled all kinds of messy businesses in the political and business circles. He seeks revenge by serving as a waiter in a nightclub with his right hand cut off due to the betrayal of Lee Kang-hee. If the movie 'The Insiders' is set in the 2010s, the series 'The Insiders' will closely intertwine the events and characters that passed through the 1980s and 1990s.

Koo Chang-hwan, who debuted in 2008 with the film `Idle' and was called the `Idol of Independent Film' in 2017, drew attention by winning the Best New Actor Award in a number of film festivals with the film `Dream Jane. Since then, he has appeared in films 'Pandas'(2020), 'Mogadish'(2021), 'Gil Bok-soon'(2023), and 'Departure'(2024), proving his expansion as an actor. He also took on the role of Corporal Han Ho-yeol in the 'D.P.' series released on Netflix in 2021 and 2023, firmly establishing himself as a popular star.

Director Mo Wan-il, who won the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards for directing the new Insiders, will direct the Netflix series 'In a Forest with No One', the drama 'The World of Couples' and 'Misty' that details the psychology of the characters and the atmosphere of the tense play. The screenplay will be written by Lee Ki-chul, who wrote 'Mogadish', 'Assassination', 'The Thieves', and is expected to provide an overwhelming sense of immersion with a shrewd story and speedy development.

In addition, Hive Mediakov, who has presented movies that combine fun and cinematic quality based on sharp insight into the times, such as the films 'Seoul Spring', 'But Save From Evil', and 'Namsan Department Heads', was in charge of production.

The film adaptation of Yoon Tae-ho's webtoon of the same name attracted 7 million viewers, the largest number ever for a blue-French movie, and received praise from critics and audience members at the same time. Densely depicting the close relationship between politics, conglomerate, gangster, media, and prosecutors, he won the 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards, as well as the 53rd Daejong Film Festival Best Film, Screenplay, and Planning Awards.

In addition, actors representing Chungmuro, including Lee Byung-hun, Cho Seung-woo, Baek Yoon-sik, and Lee Kyung-young, participated in a fiery acting competition, leaving countless famous lines and scenes. Ahn Sang-gu's famous line "Let's go to Mojito and have a Maldives" has since produced countless memes and parodies. In addition, actor Cho Woo-jin, who was close to unknown before this work, rose to stardom as an ancestral dance and has since been active as a cast member across movies and dramas.

The series 'insiders' is in preproduction with the goal of cranking up in 2025.
