'Rented in Finland' Dominates Southeast Asia's Non-Drama Charts

'Rented in Finland' is getting record responses in Asia beyond Korea.

According to the weekly chart of the 4th week of December (December 16 to December 22), released by Asia's largest OTT platform Viu on the 26th, tvN entertainment 'Finland Rent-a-Life' (English: Rented In Finland) attracted attention by ranking first in Indonesia and Thailand in the non-drama category. It is also very loved across Southeast Asia, ranking second in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong respectively.

'Finland Rent-a-Live' is a program about the local life of actors from the city in rural Finnish villages without electricity, water supply, and Wi-Fi. The program, which attracted attention even before its airing with colorful casts such as Lee Je-hoon, Lee Dong-hwi, Kwak Dong-yeon, and Cha Eun-woo, is fascinating viewers with the chemistry of actors and unexpected daily episodes made in a different environment.

In particular, the reason why this program attracted such attention abroad in a short period of time was that works such as Lee Je-hoon's 'Model Taxi' series and Cha Eun-woo's 'Goddess Kanglim' and 'Lovely Dog' have consistently shown high performance in Viu. The fandom they have accumulated leads to new challenges and appears to be a result of being widely loved despite the genre specificity of entertainment.

Meanwhile, Viu (View) is a Hong Kong PCCW cross-regional OTT platform that introduces popular Korean content to 16 foreign countries, including Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, ranking second in the Southeast Asian OTT market share (based on MPA aggregation). Currently, it is constantly loved by global viewers by introducing various K-contents such as dramas 'Madam Ok', 'Drinking Romance', and 'The Iron Family'.
