A woman in her 30s who was put on trial for posting a malicious post to singer-actress IU complained of mental illness, but was fined 3 million won in the first trial.

On the 3rd, the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Chamber 16 (Chief Judge Lee Kyung-sun) sentenced A in his 30s to a fine of 3 million won on charges of insult.

According to the prosecution, A was put on trial on April 10, 2022, for posting four comments disparaging IU's costume, singing skills, and remarks.

IU's agency EDAM Entertainment (EDAM) filed a complaint on the 11th, selecting serious cases that meet criminal requirements among "threatening, insulting, spreading malicious false information and raising suspicions of plagiarism," defamation, death threats and invasion of privacy, sexual harassment, distribution of pornography, the production and dissemination of illegal composites (photo and video content using AI), and other illegal information distribution activities (illegal acts)." he said.
