Jonghyun died on Dec. 18, 2017, at a residence in Seoul. He was 27 years old at the time. Having suffered from depression during his lifetime, he broke many people's hearts by leaving the words "Well done, you did a great job."
Jonghyun's family followed his will and established a foundation 'Bitina' in 2018. Based on the copyright fees left by Jonghyun, the bereaved family runs a scholarship project and a psychological healing program for young artists to convey the warm heart of the deceased to the world. Last year, Secretary-General Kim So-dam delivered a message of consolation to young artists, saying, `I hope we can share and overcome difficult times together rather than endure them alone.'
Jonghyun was born on April 8, 1990 and debuted as the main vocalist of SHINee in May 2008. SHINee rewrote the history of K-pop by producing numerous hits such as 'I'm so pretty', 'You Like Oxygen', 'Ring Ding Dong', 'Lucifer'. In particular, Jonghyun was recognized as an artist with excellent singing skills and writing and composing skills. He wrote SHINee's 'Juliette' and 'View' and presented his musical talents as a singer-songwriter by presenting songs to various artists, including IU's 'Depression Clock', Son Dam-bi's 'Red Candle', EXO's 'Playboy', and Lee Hi's 'Sigh.
From 2014 to 2017, Jonghyun is a radio program 'Blue Night JonghyunHe was the DJ of ' and communicated with the listeners and listened to their concerns. Jonghyun held his second solo concert in December 2017 following his first solo concert in 2016, and had a special time with his fans, but he suddenly passed away eight days later. His last gift, a posthumous album 'Foet | Artist', was released in January of the following year and comforted fans.
