MBC Cancels 2024 Entertainment Awards Following Jeju Air Plane Crash

'2024 MBC Entertainment Awards' announced on the 29th that '2024 MBC Entertainment Awards' scheduled for 8:30 p.m. today (Sunday) will be canceled due to the formation of an emergency news special.
Earlier, MBC canceled only the photo time event and tried to proceed with the award ceremony as scheduled, but eventually decided to cancel it in the aftermath of the accident.
Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, left the runway at Muan Airport in South Jeolla Province on the 29th. 181 people, including 175 passengers and six crew members, were on board the aircraft, and two of them were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.
The Jeollanam-do Fire Department is identifying the exact identity by checking the passenger list and the boarding location in the aircraft, saying that two out of 181 people are believed to have survived and the remaining 179 are all dead.

MBC then decided to cancel 'The Masked Singer', which was scheduled to air at 6 p.m. that day.
Meanwhile, after the accident, Jeju Air said, `We apologize to all those affected by the Muan Airport accident,' adding, `First of all, we will do everything we can to resolve the accident.' I'm sorry to have caused you any concern", he apologized.
