Emergency martial law refers to martial law declared by the president when it is difficult to perform administrative and judicial functions due to extreme disruption of social order due to military wars, events, or similar national emergencies. This is 44 years after it was declared during the May 18 Democratic Movement in 1980. In response, the National Assembly held a plenary session on the 4th and passed a resolution calling for the lifting of the emergency martial law.
