Park Jin-young Donates 1 Billion Won Annually to Aid Vulnerable Children

Singer and JYP Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as JYP) CEO Park Jin-young readily offered 1 billion won this year for vulnerable children and adolescents who are suffering from high surgery and treatment costs. The fund, which was raised by Park Jin-young's private funds, will be delivered 200 million won each to five local hospitals (Yeonhae Medical Center, Gangneung Asan Hospital, Chilgok Gyeongbuk University Hospital, Busan Paik Hospital, and Jeju National University Hospital) to treat and rehabilitate severe rare and incurable diseases in children and adolescents.
To commemorate this, a donation ceremony was held at JYP headquarters located in Seongnae-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 10th to support the treatment of the vulnerable in Korea. Major officials, including donor Park Jin-young, director of Yonsei Medical Center's Gangnam Severance Hospital, Yoon Chun-sik, head of management support at Gangneung Asan Hospital, Park Jin-young, professor of pediatric surgery at Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, Lee Yeon-jae, head of Busan Paik Hospital, and Choi Sung-wook, head of public relations and foreign cooperation at Jeju National University Hospital, attended the event to shed light on the purpose and reflect on its meaning.
Park Jin-young said, `I have two daughters, five and four years old. I've been interested in children for a long time, but I have two daughters at home and sometimes get sick, so when I go to the hospital, I feel really bad. On top of that, I thought about how my child's parents would feel if it was financially difficult, and with this, I donated the treatment fee. Please continue to treat children in need and I will continue to work hard so that I can donate more," he said.
Every year, Park Jin-young delivers good influence and practices Noblesse Oblige with sincere donation activities. In 2022, a total of 1 billion won was donated to Samsung Seoul Hospital and International Relief Development NGO World Vision, 500 million won each to help treat rare and incurable diseases such as surgery and transplantation for domestic and foreign patients. In 2023, a total of 1 billion won was delivered to Samsung Medical Center, Seoul Asan Medical Center, Chungnam National University Hospital, Chonnam National University Hospital, and Chilgok Gyeongbuk National University Hospital in hopes that the children will not lose their dreams because they are sick. As a result, Park Jin-young donated a total of 3 billion won to nine hospitals and one NGO organization in Korea from 2022 to 2024 and helped 276 children in Korea and Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
In addition to donating at the personal level, he continues to give back to society the love he received from his artists, executives and employees and the public as a representative producer of JYP. Since 2002, Samsung Medical Center has held an end-of-year charity concert and delivered joy to patients in the pediatric ward, and in 2019, CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities have been systematized. Under the catchphrase of 'EDM (Every Dream Matters!: All Dreams in the World Are Important), we are actively carrying out projects to support medical expenses for children with incurable diseases with economic difficulties, projects to emotionally support children with incurable diseases, and eco-friendly projects to foster a healthier life 'Love Earth'.
As a result of such EDM social contribution activities, JYP supported 1,706 children with donations of KRW 2,854,211,000 (headquarters) and KRW 12 million (Japan branch) this year, and since 2019, it has distributed warmth to 3,428 domestic and foreign children with donations of KRW 6,342,145,000 (headquarters) and KRW 48 million (Japan branch).In addition, JYP is carrying out various social contribution activities. Recently, the amateur charity basketball tournament 'JYP Basketball Tournament' was held, and JYP additional donations were added to the participation fee of all participating teams in the competition to deliver the treatment fee for vulnerable children at Samsung Seoul Hospital. At the end of the year, JYP will host a EDM DAY that reports on its one-year social contribution activities. The EDM social contribution activities that Park Jin-young himself has carried out over the year will be announced to the public, and the fifth edition of 'EDM DAY' will also be posted on JYP's official YouTube channel at 2 p.m. on December 24.
