Top Six Nominees Announced for 2024 SBS Drama Awards

SBS revealed the six candidates for the '2024 SBS Acting Awards'. Ahn Jung-hyun of `Detective Chaebol X Detective', Hwang Jung-eum of `Resurrection of Seven People', Ji Seong of `Connection', Jang Na-ra of `Good Partner', Park Shin-hye of `Judge from Hell`, and Kim Nam-gil of `Fiery Priest 2` are the main characters who decorated the end of 2024 splendidly.

First of all, it is notable that Ahn Bo-hyun of 'chaebol X Detective', who splendidly marked the beginning of 2024, has grown into a grand candidate. The representative genre of SBS is 'Hero SaAhn Bo-hyun, who solidified his presence as the main character of the 'Water', is a detective, but at the same time, he made full use of the character's three-dimensional charm through the unique setting of being from a chaebol family and drew viewers' aspirations for season 2.

Then in 'Resurrection of Seven People', Hwang Jung-eum showed a strong acting transformation despite appearing in only eight times, making her a grand prize candidate. Hwang Jung-eum, who performed a villainous role that caused viewers' anger as an assistant to Matthew Lee (Strict Standard) in the previous season '7 Escape', was praised for expressing the change of Geum La-hee with her method of acting that was dismantled as a judge 'Medusa' who awakened her fault and punished the musicians, including herself.

Ji Sung made a new history by performing a top-notch performance in 「Connection」. Ji Sung, who plays the drug-addicted ace detective Jang Jae-kyung in `Connection,' was praised for expressing the ambivalence of a just and persistent police officer and a shaken drug addict with a powerful performance. In particular, in these days when short episode-type Saiedamul is popular, Ji Sung's "Hard Carry" played a decisive role in the fact that the well-made tracking drama "Connection" with a 14.8% (based on Nielsen Korea's metropolitan area) was able to finish with its own highest ratings."

When talking about 'Good Partner', one of the best works of the year, it is the strong performance of Jang Na-ra who returned to her home. Jang Na-ra, who gained huge popularity for her success story of the Myeongrang Girl, continued her fame as a ratings maker by succeeding in SBS after a long time, following the "Empress' Dignity" and "VIP". Playing the role of Cha Eun-kyung, a star lawyer whose vocation is divorce in 'Good Partner', she captivated the home theater with her cool eyes and charisma that she did not normally show. In particular, Jang Na-ra, who delicately captured Cha Eun-kyung's inner and wide emotional changes, who experienced divorce directly from a star divorce lawyer, was able to record the highest viewership of SBS dramas this year at 18.7%.

SBS' ambitious 'Judge from Hell' caused a huge buzz with Park Shin-hye's acting transformation. Park Shin-hye, who had a strong image of candy for playing innocent, bright, but somehow sad and pitiful characters, succeeded in acting 180 degrees by playing the role of evil but lovely demon 'Gangbitna' in 'Judge From Hell'. Park Shin-hye, who gave a pleasant catharsis by presenting the punishment of the `Eyes from Hell' in the unique setting of a fantasy and legal drama 'Judge from Hell', gave a cider bomb to viewers who were thirsty for 'Implementation of Justice' by evenly presenting colorful actions, brilliant costumes, and even bad-looking Jangmukkumi that had not been shown before. Viewers also responded with a high viewer rating of 13.7%, cheering on Park Shin-hye's transformation.

Finally, Kim Nam-gil of 『Fiery Death 2" was nominated for the grand prize. Kim Nam-gil, who returned after five years with Season 2 of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Fierce Blood Priest', excited fans of the passionate blood priest Kim Hae-il, exuding the charm of the still 'Furious Control Disorder'. 'Fiery Death II' has been cruising with double-digit ratings so far after topping all broadcasters' first broadcasts of the miniseries in 2024, with high ratings of 12.4% from the first episode. Behind this was Kim Nam-gil's performance, who constantly crossed the boundaries of seriousness and comicality, showing unsparing action and disguise. In addition, Kim Nam-gil's performance, who has firmly established the center between the members of the Goo Avengers in season 1 and the new characters and villains who joined in season 2, is a good candidate for the grand prize.

With interest in the '2024 SBS Acting Awards', where six prominent candidates will compete fiercely, Shin Dong-yup, Kim Hye-yoon, and Kim Ji-yeon will be the MCs to present a splendid 'Crisves Party', which will be broadcast live from 8:35 p.m. on December 21.
