Spring Reversal in Seoul...Director Kim Sung-soo's emergency martial law ridiculous coup

Director Kim Sung-soo of the movie 'Seoul Spring' criticized President Yoon Suk Yeol's emergency martial law incident on December 3.

Director Kim Sung-soo received the Best Director Award for the 11th Korea Film Producers Association Awards held at IndiSpace in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 17th for the "Spring of Seoul".

In his post-award speech, he said "The people I always say and thank are the audience 'Seoul Spring'. Because until I prepared the movie and tried to release it, I was so anxious and worried that the audience would watch it a lot. I was worried that it would break even since it was a movie that was quite budgeted during the pandemic. "I felt so happy because so many people watched it because it was opened and miraculous."

Director Kim then said, `But on the other hand, there were some doubts about why so many people watched it and why young people, especially, would visit the theater`Not long ago, a year after its release, the deranged president staged a ridiculous pro-government coup on Dec. 3 and watched young people run out of Yeouido as well as other parts of the country to vote for impeachment and vote for it, saying, `I realized why audiences are like this these days, why they watched so many of our movies.'

It also occurred to me that young people have the right beliefs about justice, especially these days. So, on the other hand, what I'm thinking about these days is that as a movie director, I was worried about what kind of stories I should tell these people in a way that was different from before. He has some excitement as a storyteller in the new era of new audiences"I'll do my best to make good works that don't go against my expectations."I'm determined.

Earlier, director Kim publicly called for the resignation of Yoon Suk Yeol's president, listing in the film's second emergency statement.

Meanwhile 'Seoul Spring' is a breathtaking nine-hour work of Chun Doo-kwang (Hwang Jung-min), a security commander who revolted to seize power, and Lee Tae-shin (Jung Woo-sung), a capital guard commander who tries to stop him. When it was released in November last year, it attracted the final 13 million viewers.

Since the recent emergency martial law crisis of '12.3', IPTV viewers of 'Seoul Spring' have soared by more than 1,000%, and requests for the re-release of theaters and TV broadcasts are continuing.
