On the 26th, the Seoul Southern District Court sentenced Ahn Sung-hyun, who was handed over to trial on charges of malpractice and violation of certain economic crime laws, to four and a half years in prison.
The court also ordered the confiscation of two high-end watches (worth a total of 400 million won) that Ahn received.
The court did not reflect on Ahn Sung-hyun's crime, saying, "'The nature of Ahn Sung-hyun's crime is very poor.'" In the course of the trial, he did not reflect on himself, nor did he recover from the damage", he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Sung Yu-ri's husband Ahn Sung-hyun, a former professional golfer who was accused of receiving billions of won in back money in exchange for listing cryptocurrency (coin), was recently sentenced to seven years in prison.
According to the legal community, the prosecution demanded seven years in prison for Ahn in a final hearing held at the Seoul Southern District Court on October 29. He also asked the court to impose a fine of 2 billion won and a fine of 1.5 billion won, and confiscate two luxury watches.
Ahn is accused of accepting billions of won from businessman Kang after being asked to list Coin A on the exchange Bithumb from September to November 2021 with Lee Sang-joon, former CEO of Bithumb Holdings. Ahn and former CEO Lee received two luxury watches worth 3 billion won and 400 million won in cash, and a membership card for a high-end restaurant, according to the survey. Ahn denies the allegations, saying, "It is true that we exchanged money with Kang, but it was not the price of a favor."
