A total of 181 passengers, including six crew members, 173 Korean passengers, and two Thai passengers, were confirmed on the plane.
Two crew members on the rear side of the plane were dramatically rescued, but all 179 other crew members and passengers were killed.
The government declared Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, a special disaster area, and designated seven days as a national mourning period until 24:00 on the 4th of next month.
