'Squid Game 2' Director Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed his honest feelings about the evaluation at home and abroad.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk met with Sports Chosun at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 2nd and interviewed Netflix's original series 'Squid Game 2' (written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk).
Coach Hwang expressed his satisfaction with season 2 and said, `I personally liked it more than season 1 and I liked it when I saw the results. There are many reasons, Season 1 is a one-way story about how Sung Ki-hoon comes into the game and survives and turns into a person. "I thought Season 2 was a little more three-dimensional story than Season 1 because I thought it was a work that expanded a little more, caused psychological fights, and showed detailed psychological and social relationships."
Then "Season 2 was highly satisfied, but it was a story of one breath, but it was regrettable in that respect as it ended at a certain inflection point in the middle." It was a shame about the ending, but the overall story is more like season 2. Satisfaction with the evaluation was so great in Season 1 that I thought there would be no such thing in Season 2. Expectations for a surprise have disappeared, so don't lean on it, and I thought there would be a devaluation. I've looked at the evaluations that came out now, and I think I'm being evaluated enough to receive it because there are parts that I didn't think of, and there are parts that I wrote good things like this. Rotten tomatoes, for example, were 90 in season one, but are now in their 80s. I think there's a difference in expectations for season 2. I thought it would be hard to satisfy it shockingly like season 1, I thought there would be a complaint about the ending, and I thought there would be a complaint about the ending, so I thought the evaluation came out okay considering that."

Director Hwang also said, `Each of us has some complaints. If you think it's an extended story and make a completely different story in season 2, I thought you'd say, "'I liked this in season 1, but where did it all go?' so I thought I should do a transformation and pursue it, but the New York Times said, `Nothing has changed at all.' So 'There's something that's changed for me?I wondered '" he said.
Coach Hwang said, `I didn't even know that Season 2 came out after such a long time. Since I've been doing this for 5-6 years while preparing for seasons 2 and 3, I think I've lived without thinking about how much people in the world are interested in me. While going around promoting, I thought 'I'm so interested. They say it's the weight of the crown, but I have a bad neck because I have a straight neck, and I thought my neck hurt a lot and it was heavy. There are many things that I enjoyed because of the imperial crown, so I think I have to endure the pain, rebuke, and bad things that I suffer from it. The disappointing points are that I'm still a good person in the world in a gloomy Korea, and making such a thing is known to other countries, and it is the most harsh (reviewed) in Korea. In fact, even a dog eats 50% in his house, but it feels like he is peeling 50% in Korea. 'Why don't I feel comfortable when I'm home?He appealed, `I think it would be better if you could cheer me up a little more.'
'Squid Game 2' is a story about a fierce battle between Ki-hoon'(Lee Jung-jae) who returns to play after vowing revenge, and 'Frontman'(Lee Byung-hun) who greets him, and a real game that begins again. Since its release on December 26, it has recorded 68,000,000 viewers (view time divided by the total running time of the work) in four days, topping the global TOP 10. In addition, the first week alone ranked seventh in Netflix's all-time most popular series (non-English), setting a record for the highest number of viewers in the public week. This is a record that far exceeds the 50.1 million viewers in the first week of 'Wendday'. Season 1 is also ranked third in the Global Top 10 Series (non-English), drawing enthusiastic responses from viewers around the world.
