Jang Won-young won the second trial of the damage complaint against the defection detainee...the amount of compensation is halved

On the 22nd, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Appeals Department 9-3 (Chief Judge Yoon Jae-nam) ruled that Jang Won-young should pay 50 million won in a lawsuit filed against A, the operator of the YouTube channel 'Taldeok concentration camp'.
Earlier, the first trial ruled on the payment of 100 million won, but the payment was halved at the appeal trial.
Jang Won-young filed a lawsuit against A in October 2023, claiming that he was defaming himself by continuously spreading false information through a video uploaded to the 「Daldeok concentration camp」.
Mr. A is accused of defaming celebrities, including Jang Won-young, by posting videos of false information 23 times from October 2021 to June 2023 on YouTube channel 'Taldeok concentration camp'. It was also revealed that he earned 250 million won in profits over two years and purchased real estate as part of the YouTube channel's profits. Currently, the channel has been deleted.
Apart from Jang Won-young, IVE's agency Starship Entertainment also filed a lawsuit for damages against A, and the first trial is currently underway.
Separately, A was also charged with defamation of Jang Won-young. In the first trial of the lawsuit, he was sentenced to two years in prison and three years of probation. Currently, the prosecution has appealed and the second trial is underway.
