Genie TV's original drama 'Riding Life' (directed by Kim Chul-kyu/scripted by Sung Yoon-ah Cho Won-dong/planned by KT Studio Genie/produced by Betty & Creators) is a drama about the life of Daechi-dong, which takes place when Jeong Eun (Jeon Hye-jin), a passionate working mother, entrusts her mother Jia (Cho Min-soo) to ride at the academy before her daughter's '7 year old Gosi'.
Jeon Hye-jin's return to the small screen is drawing attention as a drama that sheds light on the hot field of early childhood education these days.
On top of that, director Kim Chul-kyu, who won the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards TV Directing Award for "Flower of Evil" and entered the official competition section of the 1st Cannes International Series Festival with "Mother", took the megaphone. It also adds to the strength of the solid original work.
Sung Yoon-ah and Cho Won-dong adapted the original novel of the same name to enhance dramatic fun and emotion. The production team raised expectations by releasing interviews with director Kim Chul-kyu, Sung Yoon-ah and Cho Won-dong.
First of all, what kind of charm was Kim Cheol-kyu attracted to. Director Kim said, `It made me think a lot about pre-primary kindergarteners solving TOEFL workbooks, reading the speech of King George VI of England, and discussing Nietzsche's philosophy in English with native speakers. 'How should we see this reality? The question ' is the starting point of the drama.
'Riding Life' is a record of the three generations of mother and daughter who entered Daechi-dong enduring each day, and it is a story of 'recovery' that confirms their love for each other, which has been forgotten through the hard and noisy process. I felt that it was a story full of warmth and simple humor that made viewers smile, while portraying the reality vividly but never heavy," he said, explaining the reason for his decision to direct.
Expectations are also high for Jeon Hye-jin and Cho Min-soo's real mother-daughter chemistry. The writers were so good that they wanted to use the expression "'I heard a bell in my head' when I heard the casting newsIt was a synchro rate that seemed to have been recruited from Daechi-dong.
I watched them closely and made them expect actors who are integrated with the character to act as if they had written 'Riding Life' Director Kim said, `At every important juncture, sometimes the two actors change the flow of the story with their power at once, or often open their breath to frustrating stagnation with their flexibility, so I used to admire the two actors each time they did so.'
The directors and writers' efforts to increase reality will increase the sense of immersion. Director Kim `didn't rely on the set for the main space, the academy district, to make the most of the site, but mostly used it as a site location in the actual Daechi-dong academy and nearby places.
We put a lot of effort into increasing the sense of reality and timeliness so that it can feel like a story that is actually happening every day around us" he said. Sung Yoon-ah interviewed the head of Daechi-dong Academy and parents, and Cho Won-dong raised the reality of the play based on his actual child riding experience and shared experiences with parents.
As for the point that differentiates the writers from other private education subject dramas, \'Riding Life' does not stop at showing the private education scene, but the story revolves around working mothers who have to live in it.
The burden that a 7-year-old child has to bear in Daechi-dong, parents' anxiety about the child's education, and the exhausted heart of grandparents who jumped into riding while seeing their granddaughters and daughters. It focused on the conflict and the journey of growth that the three generations of mother and daughter go through while riding together. It predicted a story that would contain warm laughter and emotion.
As for the final point to look out for, director Kim portrayed \'Riding Life' in a witty, cheerful and cute way a subject that is likely to become heavy and seriousEmphasizing " once again, the stories of the three generations of mothers and daughters in the fierce Daechi-dong private education field, which are hard to believe even when viewed with their own eyes, were arranged in a balanced manner without being biased to either side. It's a story that all generations can sympathize with and enjoy together," he said, encouraging viewers to watch.
Genie TV's original drama 'Riding Life', which raised expectations for well-made through interviews with directors and writers, will be first released on Genie TV, Genie TV Mobile, and ENA at 10 p.m. on Monday, March 3.
