Taiwanese actor Wang Ji-seon (33), who made his name with the movie My Girls' Generation, has been arrested on charges of avoiding military service.

On the 18th (local time), multiple media outlets, including Taiwan's media ET Today, reported that Wang was arrested on charges of avoiding military service and was under investigation.

According to reports, the New Bay District Prosecutor's Office in Taiwan arrested Wang Sheng-du as a suspect while investigating a violation of the military service law. It was investigated that he received false medical certificates through doctors to avoid military service. It has been confirmed that more than 10 people, including Wang continent, were involved in the incident.

Prosecutors raided and searched Wang's home in Daan-gu, Taipei, and secured evidence related to the avoidance of military service. The investigation, which lasted about an hour, reportedly did not mention anything. After the home raid, he was summoned by the prosecution.

Taiwan, like South Korea, maintains a conscription system, and the mandatory military service period is one year. Under Taiwan's revised military service law in 2022, a person subject to military service could face up to five years in prison if he or she submits false documents or conceals facts to avoid conscription.

Meanwhile, Wang's films 'My Girls' Generation' and 'Playful Kiss' were popular not only in China but also in Korea. In 2019, he was rumored to be dating Korean actor Kang Han-na, but both sides denied it.
