Rep. Bae told News 1 on the 4th that MBC has an organizational culture that hush-hush even when problems arise"On the surface, it's a sprawling family house, but it's like a place where serious domestic violence is committed."
Regarding the death of Oyoanna, who left the world by extreme choice in September last year, it was only recently known that a large amount of suicide note was found on the deceased's mobile phone. The suicide note is said to have complained of bullying in the workplace, and fellow weather casts were identified as the perpetrators of Oyoanna's allegations of bullying in the workplace.
In particular, the bereaved families said there was a transcript of Oyo Anna confiding in the workplace harassment to four MBC officials, which has caused a stir. After being criticized for sitting on the sidelines, MBC decided to form a fact-finding committee to find out the cause and truth of the deceased's death.
In response, Rep. Bae stressed that `the biggest problem is that I asked the company for help, but it was ignored.' Recalling his days working at MBC, he said "It was repeated that bullying occurred and rejecting specific people, focusing on personal relationships within the company."
Also "MBC's in-house culture is very much based on human relationships like a university club. If anyone doesn't like it, it becomes very childish and violent.
In particular, he confessed about the time when he joined the MBC labor union strike in 2012 and left the union on the way back to work, saying, `I have experienced threats such as colleagues climbing on the bonnet of a car on the way home and being beaten by protest panels on the move.'
"Even if harassment occurs within MBC, no mechanism or system to solve it is working properly," he said, adding that "Why didn't MBC prevent Oyoanna's bereaved family from even releasing a transcript of her complaining of bullying at work?"
Earlier, other MBC weather forecasters added their voices to the incident. Park Eun-ji, a former MBC weatherman, paid tribute to her late junior and said, `I know how scary and lonely the pain is after enduring seven years.' Bae Soo-yeon, a former MBC weatherman, also refused to listen to anyone in that he was a freelancer, saying, `I was like that back then.'" he once confided.
On the other hand, former MBC weatherman Lee Moon-jung left a comment, "'Shouldn't we listen to both sides and make a judgment?' and was criticized."He also explained that he wrote personal thoughts that were not related to Anna, "Please do not make any more malicious interpretations."
