Local media, including the China Times, reported on the 20th that Wang was released on bail of 150,000 Taiwanese dollars (about 6.59 million won) after being arrested on charges of draft evasion and questioned by prosecutors.
Ten people, including Wang Sang-dae, are accused of issuing forged medical certificates as if they were suffering from chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and heart disease for the purpose of avoiding military service through three brokers, including Lin in his 20s, Lee in his 40s, and Jang in his 50s.
Brokers gave fake medical certificates for 100,000 to 1 million Taiwanese dollars (about 4.4 million to 44 million won), respectively. In particular, he demanded 1 million Taiwanese dollars from the famous entertainer Wang Continental.
Taiwan is a conscription country that is obligated to serve in the military for one year. If a person subject to conscription conceals facts for the purpose of avoiding military service, he or she can be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
Wang Continental reached the age of 33 at the end of last year, the limit of postponement of enlistment. Accordingly, he had received a notice of enlistment on March 13th. He is suspected of avoiding military service after being re-examined using a forged medical certificate, and since he has not yet applied for an actual re-examination, he may be charged with forgery of documents under the criminal law by purchasing a forged medical certificate instead of violating the military service law.
Wang, who was born in 1991, is a star who gained popularity through the films 'My Girls' Generation' and the drama 'Playful Kiss'. In particular, it was controversial because he was known to be close to Seungri, a former member of Big Bang. When Seungri was sentenced to prison for being the main culprit of Burning Sun Gate, Wang Continental is an ordinary friend of Seungri. He did not commit an unscrupulous act."
