Will the truth of the Oyo Anna case be revealed? Police launch an internal investigation into allegations of workplace harassment



Police have launched an internal investigation into allegations that the late MBC weatherman Oyoanna, who died in September last year, suffered bullying at work while she was alive.

The Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 3rd that it has received a civil petition from the National Newspaper asking for an investigation into the allegations related to the late Oyoanna on the 31st of last month and launched an internal investigation.

Earlier last month, a netizen filed a complaint with the police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor in connection with the death of the late Oyoanna.




The accuser claimed that Ahn Hyung-joon, president of MBC, the head of the department, and a fellow weatherman are suspected of destroying evidence, professional negligence, and violating the Stalking Punishment Act.

He also reportedly submitted an additional request to the police for an investigation into President Ahn on the same day, asking the MBC management to investigate whether he violated the "Severe Accident Punishment Act."

Meanwhile, the late Oyo Anna joined the MBC open recruitment weatherman in 2021, but died suddenly in September last year. He was 28. The news of his death was belatedly announced in December, three months later, and the cause of death was not disclosed. However, a recent report by the Maeil Shinmun suggested that the deceased had been bullied at work while he was alive, and the scandal grew.




According to reports, the bereaved family is actually OAnna said she killed herself, adding that a 17-page suicide note was found on her mobile phone.

The bereaved family of the late Oyoanna filed a lawsuit against a fellow employee of the deceased in the Seoul Central District Court on the 23rd for damages due to bullying in the workplace.

MBC decided to form a fact-finding committee to determine the cause of Oyoanna's death.
