Appeal Hearing for Yoo Ah-in’s Drug Case to Be Held Today

An appeal hearing will be held for Yoo Ah-in, who is suspected of taking drugs habitually.

At 2:20 p.m. on the 18th, the Seoul High Court will hold an appeal hearing for infants accused of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

From September 2020 to March 2022, Yoo Ah-in is accused of taking a total of four medical drugs, 9.6 liters of propofol, 567 mg of midazolam, 200 mg of remimazolam, and 10.7 ml of ketamine, 181 times under the guise of sleep anesthesia for cosmetic procedures.

He is also accused of illegally prescribing 1,100 two types of sleeping pills in the name of another person 44 times from May 2021 to August 2022. In January this year, he is also accused of smoking hemp three times in the United States and teaching marijuana smoking to an acquaintance he was with to hide this fact.

In September last year, the first trial court admitted to habitual drug use and habitual purchase of sleeping pills in the name of another person, sentenced him to one year in prison with a fine of 2 million won and arrested him in court. However, hemp receiving and smoking teachers and teachers who destroy evidence were found not guilty.

However, both Yoo Ah-in and the prosecution appealed, and the second trial began.

In the final hearing of the appeals court held on the 24th of last month, the prosecution demanded a four-year prison term, just like the first trial.

Yoo Ah-in "is deeply reflecting on all wrongdoing. I sincerely ask you to spread your strong will for learning and life to society. I will not fall down by any temptation. I will face the world mature and healthy```` he pleaded for leniency.
