A huge sinkhole has occurred in a soccer field in the United States, shocking.

According to foreign media such as CNN and the Daily Mail, a huge sinkhole was built in the middle of a soccer stadium in Alton, southern Illinois, on the 26th (local time).

It is 30 meters wide and 9 meters deep, and the image of the sinkhole at the time of the sinkhole was captured on CCTV illuminating the stadium.

There were no casualties, but the large lighting tower that stood there at the time of the collapse was also sucked in.

Currently, the use of the stadium has been suspended, and authorities have launched an investigation.

Michael Haynes, the city's director of parks and recreation, told the media that "it didn't seem real. It was like a movie where the ground crumbled underfoot," he said.

He also added "A nearby mine is believed to be the cause, but the exact cause will not be known until the investigation is completed."

The mining owner denies the connection, saying it has secured sufficient safety.

Meanwhile, the soccer field was built in 2019 at a cost of 1 million dollars (about 1.4 billion won).
