According to foreign media such as China Press, Pan Xiaoting (24) died suddenly while doing an eating broadcast on the 14th. The cause of her death is presumed to be overeating.
An autopsy report showed that her abdomen was severely deformed. The media reported that the stomach was filled with undigested food.
Before her death, she had been eating for more than 10 hours nonstop on live broadcasts every day, challenging extreme mukbang challenges.

Previously, she had been hospitalized for gastric bleeding due to overeating.
Nevertheless, she started binge eating again the day after she was discharged.
Netizens also recommended that the broadcast be temporarily suspended, fearing for their health, but to no avail.
Earlier in 2020, in China, President Xi Jinping created a law that imposes fines on binge-eating content, saying that food waste should be prevented.
