An aerial collision almost occurred.

According to local media such as CBS News, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines planes were caught barely avoiding the air crash at around 11:50 a.m. on the 8th (local time).

Their distance was only about 200 meters apart. The video was captured by a black box camera of a police patrol car on the ground.

The dizzying scenes of the two aircraft were reportedly air traffic control errors.

According to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), an American aircraft was close to Syracuse Hancock International Airport and was preparing to land, and at the same time, a Delta aircraft took off from the same runway.

Although the planes were not actually on the collision course, a large accident could have occurred due to the close distance.

According to the communication between the pilot and the airport control tower, urgent radio messages were exchanged over the take-off and landing permits.

As the distance between the two aircraft narrowed, the controller instructed the American Airlines pilot who was landing "Quickly detour and raise the altitude".

Immediately, the American aircraft rose urgently and managed to avoid a collision.

At the time, there were 79 people on the American Airlines flight and 80 passengers and crew on the Delta flight.

No injuries are reported.

The FAA is investigating the cause of this incident.
