According to Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA) and Singtao Global Network News, a female employee of a franchise cafe 'Kebuke' in Taiwan's Hsinchu region spat in her hand and stirred tapioca pearls into a cup.
The video appears to have been filmed by an employee himself and is believed to be an act of retaliation against a customer who placed an order just before the cafe's closing time.
When the video was posted on social media, consumers poured out angry comments.
In response, the company apologized for the inappropriate behavior of its employees through SNS on the 15th.
The company said it has immediately conducted an investigation upon receipt of the case and that the employee has been suspended from all duties"We will conduct service training and training for our employees in all stores"
It also added that the closure and franchise contracts were terminated for the branch and that the employees will be held legally responsible.

After the controversy grew, a netizen who claimed to be a female employee in the video apologized for causing the store to close.
