A famous professional golfer was arrested for sexual assault on a woman in her 20s

According to Japanese media, including the Asahi Shimbun, the police announced on the 23rd that they had arrested professional golfer Tomoyasu Sugiyama on charges of sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman.
Sugiyama reportedly had sex with a restaurant employee he had known at a hotel in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, early on May 7.
The victim reported this to the police office's sex crime counseling call later in the day.
Sugiyama is said to have admitted the allegations during a police investigation.
Sugiyama won his first tour title at the Bridgestone Open in October 2021 and played in the 2022 U.S. Open Championship, according to the Japan Golf Tour Association's website.
