2024 Asia Oceania Women's Genital Infection and Neoplasia (AOGIN) announced that it will hold an international conference at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul from the 11th to the 13th.

About 500 doctors and basic researchers from more than 20 countries will attend the conference to present the latest research results in the field of early screening, prevention, and treatment of cancer under the theme of 'Empowering Women, Together Against Cervical Cancer' and publish international guidelines. In addition, domestic and foreign experts and scholars will present their latest knowledge on the prevention of men and screening methods for various HPV-induced cancers and viruses such as oral and anal cancers.

Cervical cancer occurs in 500,000 women worldwide every year, killing 250,000 people. In 2008, the world's first vaccine to prevent human papillomavirus (HPV), the cause of uterine cancer, was developed and distributed, setting a new turning point in fighting uterine cancer. Korea is also vaccinating female students aged 12 to 13 with a national vaccine. The World Health Organization (WHO) is currently conducting an international campaign of 90-70-90 (90% cancer screening for women worldwide, 70% vaccination, and 90% reduction in cancer incidence).

For two years from 2024, AOGIN Chairman Kim Young-tak (Director of Cha International Hospital and Director of Bundang Cha Women's Hospital) said, "This conference will be the best opportunity for experts from around the world, including in Oceania, Asia, to promote scientific exchanges related to HPV and cervical cancer. We expect the conference to present new guidelines for the prevention and eradication of women's cancer and to raise public awareness as well as to drive national support to provide an opportunity to contribute to women's healthy lives."

Founded in 2004, AOGIN is an international conference that researches and presents the national prevention and latest treatments for female genital infections and female cancer, with 25 countries in Asia and Oceania participating as member states. AOGIN is partnering with international societies such as IFCPC (International Cervical Cancer Society) and EUROGIN (European Society of Gastrointestinal Infections and Oncology) to raise public awareness and support cancer prevention research and campaigns in each country.
