A terrible incident in which a son set his mother on fire at a police station in India is shocking.

According to local media such as Hindustan News, Gaurav Kumara (22) lit his mother Hemrata (50) at 1:50 p.m. on the 16th (local time) in the yard of the Khair Police Station in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Police rushed to cover the cloth and managed to put out the fire and transport the woman to the hospital, but she died.

The incident began in a property division dispute.

Hemlata has lived with her three sons in-laws' adult home since her husband died 18 years ago.

Hemlata recently demanded compensation after her husband's uncle, an adult in-laws, asked her to leave the house.

However, they have rarely been able to narrow their differences over the amount of compensation and have continued to fight.

Eventually, the two sides attended the police station to resolve the dispute.

During a brief break after the sharp workshop, Hemlata went out to the yard and his son followed.

Afterwards, the woman sprayed her body with flammable substances and held a lighter. He even complained that the property dispute was unfair.

The son was filming this with his cell phone.

A police officer managed to drop the lighter from the woman's hand, but suddenly the son picked it up and lit the mother in front of the police officer.

Surprised police officers brought bags and other items around to put out the fire and moved the woman to a nearby hospital. However, the woman died because the degree of burns was so severe.

The police arrested the son who lit the fire and are investigating the details of the incident.
