A famous Chinese food and beverage company has conducted 'heinous' military training for new employees, sparking controversy.

According to the South China Morning Post and Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, Hebei-based food and beverage company A conducted a 7-day period of extreme training at a military base for 76 newly hired trainees.

Due to the rigorous training, the new employees suffered heatstroke and other damage.

One participant claimed that he had to do 80 push-ups on arrival.

In addition, participants were instructed to climb the mountain without hundreds of squats, a 60-kg weight march, or supplies.

In addition, they were instructed to go to strangers' homes and ask for change and meals, which were wrapped up in a 'Urban Survival' training, the participants said.

Some were also posted online that they had heatstroke during training.

The military camp that conducted the training was intended to cultivate the spirit of teamwork and to nurture it as a leader of the future" he said.

It also claimed that medical staff were on standby and did not force participants to complete their training.

However, after the controversy, the camp deleted the training video it had posted on its social media account.

Netizens are critical of the camp, such as 'Gaslighting' and 'Abduction Training', 'Gapjil' using job search difficulties', 'How can you still train like this?"

Meanwhile, the company is one of China's largest food and beverage companies, founded in 1994.

It has 25 factories and about 30,000 employees across the country and was listed as one of the top 500 private companies in China's manufacturing sector in 2023.
