A man in his 30s who secretly filmed a shower at a female student dormitory in Singapore and broke into a room was sentenced to eight weeks in prison.

According to local media such as the Straits Times, a Singapore court sentenced A (32), an office worker in court to eight weeks in prison on charges of voyeurism and home invasion.

He broke into a nearby Nanyang Technical University girls' dormitory after leaving work on the night of June 11 last year.

When he heard the sound of washing in the common shower room, he put his cell phone under the door and filmed the body of a 22-year-old schoolgirl.

Later, while filming the video from a different angle, a female student found her and screamed, and he ran away.

The police checked the CCTV but could not identify it because it was too dark at the time and covered his face.

Meanwhile, he boldly visited another building in the dormitory about a month later.

He sneaked into a girl's room with the key he found in the shoe rack.

Just in time, the student in the next room heard the door and came out and asked "Who is it?" This was because the room owner stayed in another area and was empty.

Then he said "I came to pick up the goods at the request of the room owner" and then exited.

The next day, a female student who contacted the room owner realized that the man's words were true and reported them to the school and the police.

Police were able to arrest him, which was clearly captured on CCTV.

Meanwhile, the court's eight-week prison sentence is being criticized online, saying `The law is too lenient.'

Netizens pointed out that "Strong punishment should be used to effectively curb these crimes."
