Gaze Bio Inspection of Crude Oil Residual Substances Certified New Technology for the 'Ice Can' System...Excellence in accuracy, time and cost

Jul 16, 2024

Shi Kyung Biomaterials (CEO Park Hee-kyung) announced on the 16th that it has developed an ice can(iSCAN) system that will carry out the National Residual Control Program(NRP) that is mandatory in the process of collecting crude oil produced by livestock farms and has been certified by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as'New Agriculture (NET)'.

The National Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Technology (NET) is a national certification system that certifies excellent technologies developed by companies or research institutes for the first time in Korea or innovatively improved or improved existing technologies under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

The certification technology name is 'Original antibiotic residue one-step detection technology', and the certification validity period is two years until July 15, 2016. During this period, the government will receive the support necessary for the market settlement of early products.

Shi Si-Bio's 'Ice Can' is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent test (ELISA) method that detects antibodies that respond to antibiotics, and the test is quick, and 75 residual substances, the largest number in Korea, can be analyzed simultaneously with just one kit. In particular, it is more efficient than existing inspection equipment, which is designed to preheat samples and read final inspection results before inspection in one system. In other words, the inspection procedure was simplified from the existing second stage to the first stage (one step) to reduce the time and cost required for the inspection.

With this certification, Iscan became the first domestic crude oil residue test kit certified by the country. A total of 75 residual substances in Korea can be inspected by adding 17 residual substances, which are additionally designated as major inspection items overseas, as well as residual standards for 58 residual substances related to crude oil set by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' NRP regulations.

As a result of the test performance test, Iscan showed 100% sensitivity, 100% specificity, and 100% overall concordance for 75 residual substances, demonstrating its perfection.

By securing superior competitiveness in inspection accuracy, number of inspection items, analysis time, and price compared to existing imported products, it will contribute to enhancing work efficiency and reducing costs in the livestock industry as well as securing consumer safety, according to Sisang Bio.

Livestock farms inevitably administer antibiotics and antibacterial drugs to prevent cattle diseases and improve crude oil productivity, but agricultural and forestry authorities have made it mandatory from 2020 by applying strict acceptance standards for residual substances to prevent antibiotic resistance and environmental pollution caused by exposure to consumers.

The size of the domestic crude oil residual substance test kit market is estimated to be 20 billion won, and based on these advantages, Sisang Bio aims to increase its market share by about half by next year.

Park Hee-kyung, CEO of Siksa Bio, said, "Milk contains proteins as well as various nutrients such as vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E, and calcium, which are recommended for children and adults growing up to eat. We feel rewarded for developing Korea's first product that can protect consumers' health, reduce environmental pollution, and ease the economic burden on livestock farms."
