According to The Mirror and other foreign media, a video of a woman hanging from a statue of 'Bacus' near the Ponte Vecchio Bridge in downtown Florence was recently posted on social media.
Bacchus is a replica of the 16th-century work of the famous sculptor Giambolonya.
The city of Florence estimated that the tourist had not yet been identified and that `maybe he was drunk.'
He also said that if he is identified, he can be fined and banned from entering the city for life under an ordinance prohibiting acts that damage cultural heritage.
Upon hearing the news, citizens vented their anger at the tourists' rude behavior.
One resident said: "Tourists must take a test of Florence before they set foot in Florence", he claimed.
A police official said "Tourists are welcome but should show respect""There should be respect for our monuments, whether they are original or reproduced.", he pointed out.
