Hallym University's Doheon Academy, the 2nd Doheon Academic Symposium, and the vision of a private university selected by Sungryoglocal University

Hallym University (President Choi Yang-hee) Doheon Academy held the second Doheon Academic Symposium at 11 a.m. on the 3rd at the National Press Club on the 20th floor of the Korea Press Center under the theme of 'Vision and Tasks of Private Universities Selected by Glocal University: Educational Reform and Social Responsibility"
The presidents of the three private universities selected for 『Glocal University 30" held a press conference after presenting their visions and tasks, and 130 audiences attended Glocal University 30" and showed high interest in the vision of the three private universities selected there.
In particular, the symposium was attended by Kim Do-yeon, chairman of Ulsan Institute of Technology, Yoon Hee-sung, executive director of Ilsong Academy, Yoon So-young, director of regional talent policy at the Ministry of Education, Kim Joo-sung, chairman of the Korea Institute of Science, Cho Hong-rae, president of Ulsan National University of Science, Moon Young-sik, president of Hallim Sungsim University, and Choi Im-soo, vice president of Konyang National University.
The 'Glocal University 30' is a key project of the Ministry of Education that aims to select 30 universities over four years and designate them as Glocal universities to support the shared growth of universities at the global level through partnerships with local communities, breaking down walls inside and outside universities at a time when knowledge and technology change cycles are accelerating and population decline leads to regional crises.
In 2023, 10 universities, including Kangwon National University, Gangneung Wonju University, Gyeongsang National University, Pusan National University and Busan National University, Suncheon National University, Andong University and Gyeongbuk Provincial University, Ulsan National University, Chonbuk National University, Chungbuk National University and Korea Transportation University, Pohang University of Technology, and Hallim University (in alphabetical order), were designated as Glocal universities, of which three are Ulsan National University, Pohang National University of Technology, and Hallim University.
Starting with the opening speech of Song Ho-geun, chairman of the Doheon Academy of Sciences at Hallym University, there were congratulatory speeches by Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Lee Ju-ho, Chairman Kim Do-yeon of Ulsan Institute of Technology, and Executive Director of Ilsong Academy Yoon Hee-sung, followed by a theme presentation hosted by Park Seob-hyung, president of Hallym University Graduate School.
The theme presentation was presented by Oh Yeon-cheon, president of Ulsan National University, under the theme of 「Revolution of the role of universities to improve regional competitiveness—Building a system for intellectual, industrial, and academic cooperation and aiming for the future values of the community」, Kim Sung-geun, president of Pohang University of Technology, and Choi Yang-hee, president of Hallym University, under the theme `The New Hallim: K-University of the Future" respectively.
Director Song Ho-geun hosted the press conference with the presidents of the three universities, Kwon Il-kyung, JoongAng Ilbo reporter Cheon Kwon-pil, and Chosun Ilbo reporter Pyo Tae-joon, followed by a heated Q&A with the audience.
