Himchan Hospital announced on the 26th that it has successfully completed the 「Youth Summer Internship Program」, which provides a venue for teenagers who dream of a career in health care to experience the hospital site.

Himchan Hospital's 「Youth Summer Internship Program」 is a talent donation-type social contribution activity to help teenagers planning to enter various health care departments, including doctors, experience the hospital's work and environment in person to confirm their aptitude and decide their future career. It has been held every summer vacation since 2010 and celebrated its 15th anniversary this year.

During the two-day event on the 24th and 25th, a total of 26 students participated in various education, experience, and practice at six Himchan hospitals, including Gangbuk, Mokdong, Bupyeong, Busan, and Changwon, including Incheon Himchan General Hospital. On the first day of education, starting with orientation, vital signs (breathing, pulse, body temperature, blood pressure) and blood sugar measurement education and practice, radiology, diagnostic laboratory, physical therapy room education and experience, and theoretical education before operating room experience were conducted. On the second day, the 25th, after participating in the conference with medical staff, they made a round of wards together, and after attending the anesthesiology department, they experienced operating rooms, internal medicine, and outpatient treatment of orthopedics and neurosurgery were held one after another. In particular, the participating students greeted their seniors (Kwon Na-hyun, a senior at Ewha Womans University's Department of Medicine) in medical school through video meetings and checked their questions such as college life.

Kim Min-sol (17, Thai International School) who participated in the internship program at Gangbuk Himchan Hospital said, "When I experienced the operating room, I desperately wanted to become a doctor and perform surgery myself, which made my goal more clear." he said. In addition, Park Chang-bin (14 years old, Roh Il-joong) has dreamed of becoming a psychiatrist since elementary school, and it was beneficial to experience the work of doctors, such as medical treatment and ward rounds, and to experience various departments such as physical therapy rooms, diagnostic laboratory medicine, and radiology. Especially, I was so happy to receive a doctor's gown with my name on it as a gift."

Park Hye-young, chairman of Himchan Hospital of the Senate Medical Foundation, said, "I hope this program will be a positive time for students to think deeply about the role of health care workers and choose a career path that suits their aptitude by experiencing the actual work environment of medical staff. We will continue to carry out the program so that teenagers can realize their dreams with the right perspective of work in the future."
