A 13-year-old boy who was taking a walk in Israel discovered a ring believed to have been made about 1800 years ago.

According to the New York Post and other foreign media, Yair Whiteson, 13, found a small green object while walking with his father near the ancient quarry site in Carmel National Park.

The object was highly corroded, so I initially thought it was a rusty bolt.

Looking closely, the boy realized that this object was a ring.

According to an appraisal by the Israeli Antiquities Management Agency (IAA), which was contacted, the ring was made of bronze material 1800 years ago.

It was also inscribed with a pattern depicting the Roman mythology 'Minerva', which corresponds to Athena, the Greek goddess.

One expert said, "The ring is fully preserved, and the naked figure wearing the helmet is depicted.' He holds a shield in one hand and a spear in the other", he explained.

"At that time, Minerva was a very popular figure because he was known as the goddess of war, military strategy, and wisdom."

The ring was believed to have been introduced to what is now Israel about 1800 years ago during the Roman period.

Experts expected the ring to be lost during work by a woman or quarry worker who lived on a Roman farm around Mount Carmel.

It is also possible that it was a burial offering from a tomb around an ancient site.

The ring will be stored and displayed at the Israeli archaeological campus in Jerusalem.
