According to local media such as China dotcom and Lujung Morning News, an emergency escape slide of CA 2754 belonging to Air China (China International Airlines), which was preparing to take off from Quzhou Airport in Zhejiang Province, China, was developed at around 9 p.m. on the 4th.
A passenger who boarded the plane for the first time in his life mistook the emergency exit door for a bathroom door and opened it.
Another passenger who witnessed this said "The flight was delayed by about 15 minutes from the original departure time, but a passenger in the background opened the emergency door while looking for the bathroom."
At that time, the flight attendant was reportedly busy preventing other passengers from scuffling.
The flight, which was scheduled to arrive at Chengdu Airport, was eventually canceled, and passengers received 400 yuan (about 76,000 won) in cash compensation per person along with their accommodation, and flights were provided the next morning.
The passenger who caused the problem was investigated by authorities, but it is not known whether it will be punished.
"If a flight attendant has done his or her job, such as notifying his or her duty of care, he or she is not responsible for the airline," a legal expert said. "The airline can claim damages from the passenger concerned."
Meanwhile, the emergency exit is supposed to be opened as soon as the cover is opened and the lever is pulled to help passengers escape quickly in case of an emergency.
However, the emergency exit does not easily open due to the difference in air pressure during high-altitude flights, but it can be opened if you decide to do so with the power of an adult man near the ground 200 meters above the ground.
An aviation expert said that depending on the model, a single emergency exit door costs 100,000 yuan to 200,000 yuan.
