Moon Rover Games is a game development studio founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2022, with all of its founding members being shooting game veterans from EA DICE, NCsoft said. The team worked on productions of popular FPS games worldwide, including the "Battlefield" series, "Far Cry" and "Tom Clancy's The Division" by Tom Clancy. It is currently developing a new cooperative FPS genre 'Project Aldous' with a new PC and console-based IP.
NCsoft said it plans to grow together from an early stage by participating in the seed round investment of Moon Rover Games alone and providing funds needed to develop new works.
Starting with this investment, we are pursuing strategic collaboration by forming a long-term partnership and discussing various cooperation measures such as additional investment and publishing authority in the future according to the progress of the project.
NCsoft is currently focusing on securing domestic and foreign corporate investment and publishing rights that can contribute to the expansion of its game portfolio and global market. He stressed that he is continuing to make investments in consideration of regions, genres, and platform expansion to secure new growth engines, while continuing to review M&A to enhance the company's growth and profitability.
"NC Soft is actively looking for companies with genre expertise and development skills to create new markets," said Park Byeong-moo, co-chairman of NCsoft. "Moon Rover Games, the first target of investment, is a company with high potential to continue new attempts based on its expertise in shooting genre games." In particular, the new work under development will be complementary to NCsoft's projects in terms of genre and region. "We expect this investment to contribute to the establishment of regional development clusters around the world and the expansion of the global market."
Co-CEO Park said, `This investment is the beginning of changes NCsoft will show in the future. In August, the company will announce plans to invest equity and rights in domestic development studios, joint projects to advance into Southeast Asia, and secure Purple's growth engine as a platform""Ensuring the competitiveness of existing IPs, the successful release of new games will continue"
"This investment is a significant momentum for Moon Rover Games. It will combine NCsoft's online game development and operational know-how with our experience and vision to provide a new gameplay experience," said Julien Wera, CEO of Moon Rover Games.
