At least 18 people were reportedly killed in a plane crash in Nepal.

According to local media such as The Hindu and Kathmandu Post, a Surya Airlines plane that took off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, crashed at around 11 a.m. on the 24th (local time).

A total of 19 people, including two crew members and airline employees, were on the aircraft heading to Pokhara. The plane was reportedly on a test flight that day.

No accurate count has been made, but some media outlets said at least 18 people were killed. The captain was rushed to the hospital.

Witnesses said the plane was taking off from the southern end of the runway when it suddenly flipped over, causing the wings to hit the ground directly and igniting the aircraft.

The plane then fell into a ditch between the hangar and the radar east of the runway.

Emergency services, including police and firefighters, have extinguished the fire on the plane and are searching the interior of the aircraft.
