Professor Lee Kang-joon of Ilsan Paik Hospital elected chairman of the Korean Psychiatric Association

Lee Kang-joon, a professor of psychiatry at Ilsan Paik Hospital in Inje University, was elected as the new chairman of the Korean Psychiatric Association at the '2024 Spring Conference and General Meeting of the Korean Psychiatric Association' held at the Baekbeom Memorial Hall on June 28. The term of office is two years from July 2024.

Psychiatry is the study of mental health care problems caused by mind-body interactions and body diseases without seeing disease as a dichotomy. It is also called advisory coordination psychiatry and general hospital psychiatry.

It includes specialized areas such as stress management, as well as consultation liison psychiatry (a clinical field in which psychiatrists cooperate with other physicians to help treat mental and physical disorders), and has a unique position in the field of psychiatry.



Chairman Lee Kang-jun said, "We will strive to strengthen academic and educational capabilities in the future and prepare guidelines for psychiatric medicine to help clinical practice."In addition, we will solidify the status of the society by expanding the base of this study, such as continuing to produce mental and physical experts."

The Korean Society of Psychiatry is an academic organization composed mainly of psychiatrists and has a history of more than 30 years since its establishment in June 1992. In particular, it has been running a mental and physical expert course since 2008, producing more than 250 experts.
