Professor Seok Sang-yoon of orthopedic surgery at Daejeon Eulji University Hospital won the Best Paper Award at the '2024 Korean Cervical Research Society Conference' held at The K Hotel on the 22nd of last month.
Professor Seok Sang-yoon received the best thesis award at the conference of the Korean Society of Cervical Research organized by the Korean Society of Cervical Research with a thesis on cervical spinal cord disease presented at the 2024 conference of the Korean Society of Cervical Research 'Indirect Decompression Method of Postural Structures Using Metal Plate Slip Method in Patients with Posterior Lesions, including Yellow Ligaments: Technical Explanations and Case Studies'.
This surgical method is a new surgical technique performed with hints of surgical techniques from professors Yeom Jin-seop of Seoul National University and Lee Geun-woo of Yeungnam University, and is an additional surgical technique that can give spinal cord patients an indirect decompression effect of the posterior lesion using screws and metal plates during anterior surgery.
Professor Seok said "I think this is a useful surgical method because it can prevent additional surgery from the rear and improve the outcome of nerve recovery even after anterior surgery."We will continue to study how to produce good results after cervical surgery in the future."
Meanwhile, Professor Seok won the thesis award at the 2023 Korean Cervical Research Association held in Pohang in 2023 and then won the thesis award at the Korean Cervical Research Association for the second consecutive year.
