Seoul Boramae Hospital Designated the First 'Unelectrode-line Pacemaker'Education and Training Center

Jul 21, 2024

The cardiovascular center of Seoul Boramae Hospital, operated by Seoul National University Hospital, announced on the 17th that it held a certification ceremony for the electrostatic pacemaker education and training center.

The certification ceremony was organized to commemorate the first city hospital to receive the certification of an electrostatic pacemaker education and training center and to promise the treatment of high-quality arrhythmia patients in the future.

Boramae Hospital has performed the procedure of high-risk elderly patients with an average age of 82 years since the introduction of an electroless pacemaker stably and successfully.

Based on this experience, Boramae Hospital is qualified to deliver various experiences and know-how when performing electroless pacemaker implantation at other hospitals. As a result, it is expected that Boramae Hospital's status in the field of arrhythmia will be raised to the next level.

Professor Woo-hyun Lim and Soon-il Kwon of the Department of Circulatory Medicine at Boramae Hospital thanked all the staff for their hard work to successfully perform the electrostatic pacemaker procedure, mainly performed by university hospitals"We will do our best to improve the quality of arrhythmia treatment at Boramae Hospital in the future and to treat arrhythmia in Seoul citizens."

The non-electrode pacemaker developed by Medtronic (company), which is used to treat bradycardia patients, has no electrode wire and is only 26mm long, so it can be easily inserted into the heart. Electrode-free pacemakers do not require electrode wire and battery implantation in the clavicle area, so there is no scarring left, apparently no difference from the general public. It has the advantage of not requiring skin incision and suture, allowing patients to recover quickly and being free from potential complications caused by deep-tuning electrodes.
