Rebecca Joynes, a 30-year-old former gymnast, said she was lonely after breaking up with her long-term boyfriend due to COVID-19, but the court refused to accept it.
According to foreign media such as Sky News and the New York Post, the Manchester Crown Court sentenced Rebecca Joynes, who had sex with two teenagers, to six and a half years in prison on the 4th (local time).
Judge Kate Connell told the defendant that "you were an adult and a teacher in control" and "used your position against minors for your own sexual satisfaction.", he pointed out.
Joynes began working as a math teacher at Manchester High School in 2018, according to prosecutors.
She brought sex with students A and B aged 15 and 16 and became pregnant until B's child and gave birth earlier this year.
B, who appeared in court, argued that he was forced, controlled, manipulated, and sexually abused by a female teacher.
He then said that he had difficulty testifying against the defendant who gave birth to his child, saying, `The family was shattered because of the abuse.'
Boy A testified that the defendant had a relationship after sending a seductive message on social media and presenting a luxury belt worth $450 (about 620,000 won).
The defendant's crime was revealed when A's mother, who recognized their relationship, reported it.
However, the defendant, who was released on bail, tried to start a new relationship with B again, and lied to him that he was infertile.
The defendant informed B of the date plan and the pregnancy news only the day before his second arrest. Earlier this year, the defendant gave birth to two children.
Joynes tearfully denied having sex with A and claimed his relationship with B began after he graduated from school.
However, the court refused to accept it and sentenced him.
