A representative of a Chinese company, more than 20 years after the factory closed, shared 1.5 billion won in compensation to about 400 employees he worked with.

According to the Chongqing Daily News and the South China Morning Post, Guo Chongji (70), a representative from Chongqing, China, founded the Chongqing General Valve plant in 1971 and closed the plant in 2000 due to worsening economic conditions.

The factory building was later demolished in 2018 under the city's urban land expropriation plan.

Guo, who received 7.7 million yuan (1.47 billion won) in compensation for the demolition, decided to share the money with employees he had previously worked with.

Retirees, retirees, and deceased employees have decided to pay their families.

The compensation was largely divided into two parts. It was decided to give 35% to employees who had previously left the company and 65% to employees who had been working until just before the factory closed.

The amount was then subdivided again according to the duration of each individual's work.

However, it has been so long since the factory closed that it has been difficult to find employees who have left, retired, and died.

Guo visited the recipients in various ways, such as posting a 'Missing Person' notice in the community and asking the police for contact information.

He said "It was so hard to find people. I suffered from insomnia almost every night and lost 3kg in two weeks."

In this way, he delivered the compensation safely to 371 of his 406 employees.

One of the quitters was a terminal cancer patient who received money just before his death.

To find the 35 employees he has yet to find, he asked the local media for help.

Guo said "I am ready to pay. I'm just waiting to come and sign and get the money," he said.

Netizens are responding, such as "Respectful", "It's nice to see others trying to share compensation, although they find a way not to pay for it."
