A Chinese bank is drawing attention by attaching more than 100,000 pieces of paper.

According to local media Beijing Youth Daily and Hong Kong media South China Morning Post, a woman named Zhang brought a cut bill to the China Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China last month.

The price was 32,000 yuan (about 6.1 million won) and was divided into pieces.

Chang asked to cash the bills, saying, `My sister-in-law, who recently died after suffering from a mental illness five years ago, cut the bills.'

In fact, Jang and his brother didn't expect much. This was because other banks refused, saying the damage was too severe to be exchanged.

Upon hearing Jang's story, ICBC Bank said it would change the money, although it would take time.

Since then, the bank has put in four employees to restore the bank notes.

An employee said "I've never seen so many shredded bills" "Even some were smaller than their fingernails, roughly more than 100,000 pieces".

Another employee added "Three different types of currencies had different patterns, which was quite confusing at first"

Four employees used magnifying glasses to identify the cut pieces and classify them by currency. After that, it was divided again by location.

After 22 days of work, the employees succeeded in attaching a total of 32,000 yuan worth of bills.

Jang, who received the new bill, delivered the gift to the bank employees with gratitude.

Netizens might be depressed when dealing with so many damaged bills" give a back reaction.
