Another cancer-fighting patient in the United States has won a large lottery.

Donna Osborne, a 75-year-old resident of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, recently won a $5 million (about 7 billion won) lottery, according to CNN and other U.S. media.

She scratched her luck with a 'Scratch Lottery' that checks the winning number.

The news of her win was special because she was a breast cancer patient who had recently undergone radiation therapy.

Also, the reason for buying the winning lottery ticket was dramatic.

Earlier, when she went to the airport with her daughter to meet her family living in Florida, she gave up boarding after her flight was delayed several times and bought a lottery ticket on her way home alone.

If she got on the plane in time, she said, there would have been no luck winning the lottery.

"I have a strange feeling that I am undergoing breast cancer radiation therapy and that I will receive the prize money on my birthday," she said. "I have no intention of quitting my current job of providing transportation for religious organizations (Amish, Amish)."

He added that some of the prize money will be invested and some will be used for travel expenses to Alaska.

Prior to this, in early April, a U.S. immigrant from Laos, who is fighting cancer, won the top prize in the U.S. Powerball (lotto) worth $1.3 billion (about 1.8 trillion won).

"I will share the prize money equally with my friend who helped me a lot," he said at the press conference with his shaved head because of his cancer battle.
