A daughter-in-law who asked her mother-in-law to set fire to her car, which she usually says she doesn't like, was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

According to foreign media such as Welsh News and Daily Mail, Alicia Anwar, 29, a woman living in Rexham, Wales, England, was sentenced to 16 months in prison and ordered to stay away for two years for inciting the arson of her mother-in-law's vehicle.

She told a police investigation that her mother-in-law, 54, committed the crime because she often said, `It's not enough as a daughter-in-law, I don't like it.'

She offered to give 150 pounds (about 260,000 won) to her friend in June 2022.

In response, the friend sprayed flammable substances and set fire to Alicia's mother-in-law's vehicle. The vehicle was burned down, the fire was also spread to other parked vehicles nearby, and some nearby houses were also damaged.

Alicia and the arsonist were arrested on the report of another friend who was also offered the crime.

Police investigated nearby CCTVs and confirmed that the arsonist purchased gasoline at a gas station the day before the crime and was holding a carrier bag near the vehicle on the day of the crime.

The police identified the criminal and arrested him, and as a result of investigating the cell phone and bankbook details, they were able to catch Alicia, who ordered the arson.

Alicia's lawyer told the trial that "she had been mentally bullied by her mother-in-law for a long time"I regret this deeply and ask for forgiveness." he insisted.

However, the court scolded "The arson is a very serious crime" and "The act of planning a crime to take revenge on my mother-in-law is shocking."

Her friend who carried out the crime will also be tried soon.
