At the 17th Owners' Cup (G3, 1,600m, ranking prize money of 500 million won) held at Let's Run Park, Busan and Gyeongnam of the Korean Racing Authority on June 30, 'Speedyoung' (four-year-old Korean male, 4th generation male, DRMCT Maju, assistant teacher Bang Dong-seok, and rider Kim Hye-sun) won the title by 8 horses, avenging their disappointment.

A total of 16 runners participated in the Owners Cup race, which was held on a saturated race track with 18% moisture content due to the rainy season that continued for several days, filled the gate. Early in the race, 'Skywind' taking advantage of the inside gate advantage took the lead, followed by 'Sumsinglost'. 'Speedyoung' was placed in fourth place and raced in the lead. As he entered the straight lane after turning two corners, 'Speedyoung' showed explosive momentum and led the way, widening the distance between the second-place horse and the eight-horse race, marking the first race of the Korean Premier Series on his own.

In the fierce competition for the second place, the 8-year-old old horse 'Heartbeat' took the lead and showed off the veteran's power. In third place, seven-year-old Goryeongma 'Mama' showed her rusty skills. The third-generation rookie 'Skywind', who led the race by taking the lead in the early part of the race, was pushed out of the rankings as his steps became dull rapidly when he entered the straight line.

Winning horse 'Speedyoung' and jockey Kim Hye-sun showed perfect chemistry even though they worked together for the first time in this race. In particular, he achieved a race record of 1:36:0 and broke the 1600m race record of 'Blue Chipper' in 2019 at 1:36.1. In addition, for 'Speedyoung', this victory was achieved in his eighth grand race challenge since winning the Breeders' Cup (G2) in 2022, adding special meaning to the victory because it came after eight games in seven games.

In addition, through this race, Kim Hye-sun proved that she is a good match with both the four-year-old horse of Bang Dong-seok, assistant teacher Mabang, 'Speedyoung' and 'Global Hit'. As a result, fans are expected to pay attention to what kind of horse Kim Hye-sun will ride in the Korean Premier Series, which will continue in the second half of the year.

Starting with the Owners Cup, the Korean Premier Series, which selects the year's representative horse and the best domestic horse, will continue with the KRA Cup Classic (G2) in August, the Korea Cup (IG3) in September, the presidential cup (G1) in October, and the Grand Prix (G1) in December.
